
Volunteer
Looking for somewhere to volunteer a few hours a week in your community? Woolwich Community Services has a variety of volunteer positions to suit your interests.
Volunteer Positions are as follows:
Office Reception
One four hour shift per week, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5: 00 p.m. September to June.
Duties: Reception, answering the phone, responding to questions and directing people to the programs or services they require, faxing, photocopying, reviewing the job board/job computers with interested persons. A variety of tasks available to match your skill set.
Care-Ring Drivers:
Once per month unless you specify otherwise.
Duties: Drive people to and from medical appointments. These are usually local, within Woolwich and K-W however occasionally we receive requests for rides to London, Hamilton and Toronto (only drivers who have indicated a willingness to drive long distances will be contacted).
Food Hampers:

Flexible hours to suit your schedule are available.
Duties: Build Food Hampers with participants, according to the guidelines supplied. You may also sort food donations, stock shelves, shop for items and re-package bulk items.
Thrift Shop
One morning or afternoon a week to suit your needs.
Duties: To provide assistance with the daily operation of the Thrift Shop. Tasks may include: sorting, pricing, hanging of clothes and customer service.
Board of Directors
2 Hours, once per month plus additional time for committee work.
Duties: Oversee and guide the organization, policy development, ad hoc committees as required, assist with fundraising events.
Family Violence Prevention:
Duties: Volunteer positions include childcare and assistance with fundraising.
St. Jacobs Family Support Centre:
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Thursdays in October to June.
Duties: Volunteer Positions include English School childcare provider, teacher's assistant in ESL course. On an as needed basis provide support and transportation to participants encouraging them to participate and become familiar with community resources.
Youth Centre:
Volunteer one or two hours once a week or on occasion for special events. Hours open: Tues. to Fri. 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Duties: A variety of opportunities are available from supervising to participating in daily activities, mentoring, sharing your skills with youth, assisting with fundraising or going on an outing.
Christmas Goodwill:

Mon. to Thurs. a week before Christmas 2-3 hours.
Duties: There are a variety of activities to become involved with shopping for and wrapping gifts, sorting food for food hampers.
Coordinator positions needed November through December.
The program is organized by four volunteer coordinators who are responsible for Family/Sponsors, Food Distribution, Volunteers/Gifts/Wrapping, and Publicity.
Special Events/Fundraising
2 hours once per year. Commitment may vary with event.
Help us raise funds and awareness of our progress by delivering poinsettias, providing a challenge site for our Wild Woolwich Challenge, sell raffle tickets, golf in our FVP Golf Tournament etc.
